French electronic duo Daft Punk announced their retirement in February, bringing to an end an illustrious, award-winning career that had spanned nearly 30 years.
Famous for never revealing their faces and for wearing robotic helmets and gloves, the enigmatic duo (confirmed as Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) composed the soundtrack to 2010’s Tron: Legacy.
As a fan of the duo – ‘Human After All’, released in 2005, was the first album that I bought by Daft Punk – as well as 1982’s Tron, I thought that this was the perfect fit, and I wasn’t wrong: what you hear perfectly complements what you see.
Whenever I hear Daft Punk, I immediately think of their work in TRON: Legacy. The movie isn’t great, but I LOVE the music, one of the best things about it actually. I even did a Music Break post for it a while back https://flixchatter.net/2014/08/21/music-break-tron-legacy-score-by-daft-punk/
Thanks for your comment, Ruth. I quite enjoyed the film and thought that Daft Punk’s soundtrack complemented it perfectly – you couldn’t have had anyone but them really!
Adore Daft Punk! Still absolutely heartbroken that we won’t get new Daft Punk music. And this soundtrack is amazing – it comes up so often on my playlist when I’m working and I always stop working for a second & think “Man, Daft Punk are brilliant”. 🙂
