It’s time to feel festive! I’m not sure why but the Harry Potter series always reminds me of Christmas. The films don’t specifically feature Christmas, though, so I’m not sure why it reminds me of the festive season. It is mentioned, of course, as the films do follow a year (or thereabouts) in Harry’s life. One of my favourite scenes from the series does feature Christmas, however: the Yule Ball in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Whether you’re a fan of the series or not, enjoy this lovely piece of music by John Williams. Though it’s called Hedwig’s Theme, for many people it is the main theme of Harry Potter, me included.
Ah, this is so familiar… wait a minute, its my ringtone! lol!
Good choice, Jeyna! I’m sure you get whisked away to Hogwarts every time you hear it 😀
Awesome Monday morning tune… thanks matey
Why thank you, Mr Lawlor. I can’t believe this was my fourth post! The weeks have gone by so fast..!
Yeah, it does sound like Christmas. Not a big fan of the Potter series (did watch a couple of them), but this music is cool.
Strange, isn’t it? It feels very Christmassy.
This is a fab piece of music. And there is definitely something Christmassy about it – I always think of the scene in the first film where she’s flying in the snow.
Me too! I think of Hogwarts, too. And Hogsmeade and Harry and Hermione and Dumbledore…!
You always pick great themes Claire! This is one that everyone, it seems, recognizes. And it does feel Christmassy. I think it’s the bells that do it! Kinda like “Carol of the Bells”
Thanks, T! It is really recognisable, which is a sign of a good soundtrack I suppose!
Hi, Claire and company:
John Williams does have a way of allowing his music to become a character or chorus in countless films. Making the films even more dynamic.
Really enjoy his take on ‘Bubble, Bubble. Toil and Trouble!’. Also known as ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’.
Good call, Jack. I remember hearing ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ and thinking, I recognise that!
When I think of Christmas in HP I always picture Ron eating a big Treacle Tart in a mostly empty dining hall!
Tasty! I always think of the Yule Ball. Imagine how amazing it would be to be in the Great Hall with snow falling down from the enchanted ceiling..!
Such and awesome piece of music – as is the entirety of Williams’ score for Philosophers Stone.
Actually, now that we bring up Harry Potter, my favourite score of all the 8 fims was Nicholas Hoopers work in Order Of The Phoenix – I just found it to be the perfect mix of images and music, as it built on what Williams achieved sonically and added depth to the world we were visiting.
It’s got nothing to do with Christmas, but is cool nonetheless!
Iconic. That is all.
Well said! 😀
