It was announced today that Anne Hathaway and James Franco will be co-hosts at the Oscars ceremony to be held on February 27th 2011.
Last year’s double act of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin brought in over 41 million viewers but it has been reported that Anne and James have been chosen as they will bring in a younger audience. Oscar telecast producers, Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer, announced in a press release: “James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons — fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27.”
- Anne, at 28, is the youngest presenter since Goldie Hawn took co-hosting duties in 1975.
- Bob Hope hosted the ceremony a record 19 times.
- The first televised Academy Awards show was the 25th annual, held on March 19th 1953.
