Film memorabilia currently making the rounds at auction:
- A rare Darth Vader costume made for The Empire Strikes Back is to be sold at auction in two weeks.
Christies will be selling the costume in its Popular Culture: Film and Entertainment auction on 25th November in South Kensington, London. It has a pre-sale estimate of £160,000-230,000. The costume is complete and features Vader’s iconic helmet, a face mask, a shoulder/breast armour plate and a pair of greaves.
- A John Wayne hairpiece from El Dorado is being sold at auction in Los Angeles.
The toupee worn by The Duke will be sold by Bonhams on 13th December at the Entertainment Memorabilia sale at 7601 W. Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles. It has a pre-sale estimate of $1,000-1,200. The toupee is still in its Max Factor box and appears in remarkably good shape considering it dates from around 1966.
